Memorable camping

Over the last couple of months I have been able to take some of the kids camping. I took Garrison camping to the annual father/son retreat at Henry Burgraf's farm in Tazwell and we had a great time. We talked about self-control, what the Bible says about it, and how we, as men and young men, exhibit self-control in situations. We had some good time to talk and hang out together. Garrison got to shoot his first .22 pistol and hold an SKS rifle. It was a great memory making week-end.

Then a few weeks later, I took Loren and Kenzie to the father/daughter retreat at Henry's farm. We talked about Psalm ch. 1 and about trees. Chapter 1 in Psalm says that Blessed is the man who does not walk in the way of wicked, etc... but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaves do not whither and who produces his fruit in season. (paraphrase) We learned some interesting facts about trees and how we can relate what we learned to our own lives. We need to be planted in Gods word so that we can produce Godly fruit, etc.

The girls, especially Kenzie, like the caving. The tire swing was a big hit as well.

I'm so thankful for these special times with the kids. I hope they will look back on them as very special times as I will.
